1 Os apóstolos e os irmãos que estavam na Judeia ouviram que os gentios também haviam recebido a Palavra de Deus. 2 Quando Pedro subiu a Jerusalém, os que eram da circuncisão criticaram-no 3 e disseram: "Tu te associaste com homens incircuncisos e comeste com eles!"

1 Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 When Peter had come up to Jerusalem, they who belonged to the circumcision group criticized him; 3 they said, "You associated with uncircumcised men and ate with them!"

4 Pedro, porém, começou a explicar-lhes o assunto detalhadamente e disse: 5 "Estava eu orando na cidade de Jope e tive uma visão de um objeto descendo, como um grande lençol baixado do céu, pendurado pelas quatro pontas, vindo para mim. 6 Contemplei e pensei acerca disso; vi os quadrúpedes da terra, bestas selvagens, animais rastejantes e pássaros do céu.

4 But Peter started to explain the matter to them in detail, saying, 5 "I was praying in the city of Joppa, and in a trance I saw a vision of a container coming down, like a large sheet let down from heaven by its four corners. It descended to me. 6 I gazed at it and I thought about it. I saw the four-legged animals of earth, wild beasts, things that crawled, and birds of the sky.

7 Então ouvi uma voz que me dizia: "Levanta, Pedro! Mata e come!" 8 Eu disse: "De forma alguma, Senhor, pois nada profano ou imundo jamais entrou em minha boca". 9 Porém a voz respondeu uma segunda vez do céu: "Não chames imundo o que Deus purificou". 10 Aconteceu isso três vezes, e todas as coisas foram levadas de volta para o céu.

7 Then I heard a voice say to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat!' 8 I said, 'Not so, Lord; for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.' 9 But the voice answered again from heaven, 'What God has made clean, you must not call defiled.' 10 This happened three times, and then everything was taken back up into heaven again.

11 Naquele momento, três homens enviados a mim de Cesareia, pararam em frente à casa onde estávamos. 12 O Espírito ordenou-me ir com eles, e não fazer distinção a respeito deles. Estes seis irmãos foram comigo, e entramos na casa do homem. 13 Ele nos falou como tinha visto o anjo em pé, na sua casa, dizendo: "Envia homens a Jope, e manda buscar Simão, também chamado Pedro. 14 Ele vos falará a mensagem pela qual serás salvo - tu e todos os teus familiares".

11 "Behold, right away there were three men standing in front of the house where we were; they had been sent from Caesarea to me. 12 The Spirit commanded me to go with them, and that I should make no distinction regarding them. These six brothers went with me, and we went into the man's house. 13 He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send men to Joppa and bring back Simon who is called Peter. 14 He will speak to you a message by which you will be saved—you and all your household.’

15 Logo que comecei a lhes falar, o Espírito Santo veio sobre eles, assim como sobre nós, no início. 16 Lembrei-me das Palavras do Senhor, que disse: "João de fato batizou com água; mas vós sereis batizados com o Espírito Santo".

15 As I began to speak to them, the Holy Spirit came on them, just as on us in the beginning. 16 I remembered the words of the Lord, how he said, 'John indeed baptized with water; but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'

17 Portanto, se Deus lhes deu o mesmo dom como concedera também a nós, quando acreditamos no Senhor Jesus Cristo, quem sou eu, para que me opusesse a Deus?" 18 Quando ouviram estas coisas, nada falaram em resposta, mas oraram a Deus e disseram: "Então Deus também concedeu aos gentios arrependimento para a vida".

17 Then if God gave to them the same gift as he gave to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I could oppose God?" 18 When they heard these things, they said nothing in response, but they glorified God and said, "Then God has given repentance for life to the Gentiles also."

19 Portanto os crentes que foram espalhados por causa da persguição que começou com a morte de Estêvão dispersaram-se para a Fenícia, Chipre e Antioquia, mas falaram a mensagem sobre Jesus somente aos judeus. 20 Mas alguns deles, homens de Chipre e Cirene, os quais, entrando na Antioquia, falaram aos gregos, anunciando-lhes as boas novas sobre o Senhor Jesus. 21 E a mão do Senhor estava com eles, e um grande número creu e se converteu ao Senhor.

19 Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that arose over Stephen spread as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word only to Jews. 20 But some of them, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, came to Antioch and spoke also to Greeks, proclaiming to them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21 The hand of the Lord was with them; a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

22 Notícias sobre eles chegaram até os ouvidos da igreja em Jerusalém, e eles enviaram Barnabé até Antioquia. 23 Quando ele veio e viu o dom de Deus, alegrou-se; e encorajou a todos para permanecerem no Senhor com firmeza de coração. 24 Pois ele era um bom homem, cheio do Espírito Santo e de fé, e muitas pessoas se uniram ao Senhor.

22 News about them came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad and he encouraged them all to remain with the Lord with purpose of heart. 24 For he was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and many people were added to the Lord.

25 Então Barnabé foi para Tarso, procurando por Saulo. 26 Quando o encontrou, levou-o para Antioquia. Sucedeu que, por um ano inteiro, eles congregaram juntos com a igreja e ensinaram muitas pessoas. Os discípulos foram chamados de "cristãos" pela primeira vez, em Antioquia.

25 Barnabas then went out to Tarsus to look for Saul. 26 When he found him, he brought him to Antioch. It came about, that for an entire year they gathered together with the church and taught many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

27 Naqueles dias, alguns profetas desceram de Jerusalém para Antioquia. 28 Um deles, chamado Ágabo, levantou-se e indicou pelo Espírito que haveria uma grande fome em todo o mundo, o que ocorreu nos dias de Cláudio.

27 Now in these days some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, Agabus by name, stood up and indicated by the Spirit that a great famine would occur over all the world. This happened in the days of Claudius.

29 Então os discípulos, conforme a capacidade de cada um, decidiram enviar ajuda aos irmãos na Judeia. 30 Eles fizeram isso e enviaram dinheiro para os presbíteros pela mão de Barnabé e Saulo.

29 So the disciples, as each one was able, determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brothers in Judea. 30 They did this; they sent money to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
