1 Assim como falsos profetas surgiram entre o povo, falsos mestres também surgirão entre vós. Eles sorrateiramente trarão consigo heresias destruidoras e negarão o Senhor que os resgatou, trazendo rápida destruição sobre si mesmos. 2 Muitos seguirão suas vidas de libertinagem e, por meio deles, o caminho da verdade será difamado. 3 Movidos por avareza, eles vos explorarão com palavras enganosas. A condenação contra eles não vai demorar muito e a sua destruição não tarda.

1 False prophets came to the people, and false teachers will also come to you. They will secretly bring with them destructive heresies, and they will deny the master who bought them. They are bringing quick destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and through them the way of truth will be slandered. 3 In their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their condemnation has been coming for a long time, and their destruction is not asleep.

4 Pois, Deus não poupou os anjos que pecaram, mas, os lançou fora ao Tártaro, para serem mantidos em correntes de escuridão até o julgamento. 5 Também não poupou o mundo antigo, mas preservou Noé, que era um mensageiro da justiça, com outros sete, quando trouxe um dilúvio sobre o mundo dos ímpios. 6 Deus também reduziu as cidades de Sodoma e Gomorra a cinzas e as condenou à destruição, como um exemplo do que vai acontecer aos ímpios.

4 For God did not spare the angels who sinned. Instead he committed them to Tartarus to be kept in chains of lower darkness until the judgment. [[ Some important and ancient Greek copies read, " to be kept in pits of lower darkness until the judgment " . ]] 5 Also, he did not spare the ancient world. Instead, he preserved Noah, who was a herald of righteousness, along with seven others when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly. 6 God also reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes and condemned them to destruction as an example of what is to happen to the ungodly.

7 Mas, resgatou o justo Ló, que era constantemente atribulado pelo comportamento de homens devassos e sem lei. 8 Pois esse homem justo, que vivia entre eles, dia após dia, era atormentado em sua alma justa pelo que via e ouvia. 9 Portanto, o Senhor sabe como resgatar os homens piedosos das provações, bem como prender os homens injustos para punição no dia do juízo.

7 And he delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the sensual behavior of lawless people— 8 that righteous man, who was living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul because of their lawless deeds. 9 The Lord knows how to rescue godly men out of trials and how to hold unrighteous men for punishment at the day of judgment.

10 Isso é especialmente verdadeiro para aqueles que continuam nos corruptos desejos carnais e desprezam a autoridade. Eles são atrevidos e orgulhosos, não tendo receio de blasfemar contra os seres celestiais. 11 Os anjos, embora sejam mais fortes e poderosos, não proferem juízo infamatório contra os ímpios diante do Senhor.

10 This is especially true for those who walk after the corrupt desires of the flesh and who despise authority. Bold and self-willed, they do not tremble when they blaspheme the glorious ones. 11 Angels have greater strength and power, but they do not bring insulting judgments against them to the Lord.

12 Mas esses, como animais irracionais, são destinados por natureza à prisão e à destruição. Eles não conhecem o que insultam e em sua corrupção serão destruídos, 13 e receberão a recompensa pelas suas transgressões. Eles consideram que a imoralidade em pleno dia é um prazer; são como nódoas e manchas, e deleitam-se em seus enganos enquanto se banqueteiam convosco. 14 Eles têm olhos cheios de adultério, nunca se satisfazem com o pecado, seduzem ao erro almas vulneráveis e têm seus corações exercitados na avareza; são filhos da maldição!

12 But these people, like unreasoning animals, are naturally made for capture and destruction. They do not know what they insult. In destruction they also will be destroyed, 13 suffering harm as a reward for doing harm. They think that luxury during the day is a pleasure. They are stains and blemishes. They enjoy their deceitful actions while they are feasting with you. [[ Instead of " They enjoy their deceitful actions while they are feasting with you. " Other modern translations have something like, " They enjoy their actions while they are feasting with you in love feasts " . ]] 14 They have eyes full of adultery; they are never satisfied with sin. They entice unstable souls into wrongdoing, and they have their hearts trained in greed. They are cursed children!

15 Eles abandonaram o caminho correto, se extraviaram e seguiram o caminho de Balaão, filho de Beor, que amou a recompensa injusta. 16 Mas, ele recebeu a repreensão por sua própria transgressão; um mudo animal de carga, falando com voz humana, refreou a loucura do profeta.

15 They have forsaken the straight way and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to receive payment for unrighteousness. [[ Many modern translations read " Balaam son of Beor " in order to be consistent with the Old Testament spelling of the name. Some modern translations choose to follow the spelling of the Greek text, which reads, " Balaam, son of Bosor " . ]] 16 But he obtained a rebuke for his own transgression—a mute donkey speaking in a human voice stopped the prophet's insanity.

17 Esses tais são como fontes sem água, como nuvens levadas por um temporal. Densas trevas estão reservadas para eles. 18 Falam com vã arrogância, atraem pessoas por meio da imoralidade da carne e seduzem os que tentam escapar daqueles que vivem no erro. 19 Prometem-lhes liberdade, mas eles mesmos são escravos da corrupção, pois cada um é escravo daquele que o domina.

17 These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. The gloom of thick darkness is reserved for them. 18 They speak with vain arrogance. They entice people through the lusts of the flesh. They entice people who try to escape from those who live in error. 19 They promise freedom to them, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For a man is a slave to whatever overcomes him.

20 Portanto, aqueles que fugiram das corrupções do mundo por meio do conhecimento do Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo e, então, retornam àquelas corrupções novamente, o último estado deles é pior do que o primeiro. 21 Seria melhor para eles não terem conhecido o caminho da justiça, do que, conhecê-lo e darem as costas ao santo mandamento que lhes fora entregue. 22 Este provérbio é verdadeiro para eles: "Um cão retorna ao seu próprio vômito; e "Uma porca lavada volta a rolar na lama".

20 If they have escaped the corruptions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and to turn away from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 This proverb is true for them: "A dog returns to its own vomit, and a washed pig returns to the mud."
