1 King Solomon was king over all Israel. 2 These were his officials: Azariah son of Zadok was the priest. 3 Elihoreph and Ahijah sons of Shisha, were secretaries. Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder. 4 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the army. Zadok and Abiathar were priests. [[ The ancient Greek translation supports the opinion of some modern scholars that " Zadok and Abiathar were priests " was a later addition to the text. ]]

5 Azarias, filho de Natã, era chefe dos oficiais. Zabude, filho de Natã, era sacerdote e amigo do rei. 6 Aisar era mordomo da casa. Adonirão, filho de Abda, era chefe dos homens sujeitos a trabalhos forçados.

5 Azariah son of Nathan was over the officers. Zabud son of Nathan was a priest and the king's friend. 6 Ahishar was over the household. Adoniram son of Abda was over the men who were subjected to forced labor.

7 Salomão tinha doze oficiais que governavam sobre todo o Israel, que forneciam alimentos para o rei e toda a sua casa. Cada um tinha o dever de prover durante um mês no ano. 8 Estes eram os seus nomes: Ben-Hur, nos montes de Efraim; 9 Ben-Dequer, em Macaz, Saalabim, Bete-Semes, e Elom-Bete-Hanã; 10 Ben-Hesede, em Arubote (a ele pertencia Socó e toda a terra de Hefer);

7 Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household. Each man had to make provision for one month in the year. 8 These were their names: Ben-Hur, in the hill country of Ephraim; 9 Ben-Deker in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh, and Elon Bethhanan; 10 Ben-Hesed, in Arubboth (to him belonged Sokoh and all the land of Hepher);

18 Shimei son of Ela, in Benjamin; 19 and Geber son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan, and he was the only official who was in the land.

20 Judá e Israel eram tão numerosos quanto a areia do mar. Eles estavam comendo e bebendo, e estavam felizes. 21 Salomão reinava sobre todos os reinos, desde o rio Eufrates até a terra dos filisteus e até a fronteira do Egito. Eles entregaram tributo e serviram a Salomão todos os dias da sua vida. 22 A provisão diária de Salomão era de trinta coros de farinha fina e sessenta coros de farinha mais grossa, 23 dez bois gordos, vinte bois de pasto, e cem ovelhas, além de veados, gazelas, cabritos monteses, e aves gordas.

20 Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea. They were eating and drinking and were happy. 21 Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life. 22 Solomon's provision for one day was thirty cors of fine flour and sixty cors of meal, 23 ten head of cattle fattened in the stall, twenty head of cattle taken from the pastures, and one hundred sheep, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fattened fowl.

24 Pois ele tinha domínio sobre toda a região deste lado do rio Eufrates, desde Tifsa até Gaza, sobre todos os reis do lado de cá do rio Eufrates, e tinha paz por todos os lados ao redor dele. 25 Judá e Israel viveram em segurança, cada um debaixo da sua videira e debaixo da sua figueira, desde Dã até Berseba, todos os dias de Salomão.

24 For he had dominion over all the region on this side of the River, from Tiphsah as far as to Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the River, and he had peace on all sides around him. 25 Judah and Israel lived in safety, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 Salomão tinha quarenta mil baias para os cavalos dos carros de guerra, e doze mil cavaleiros. 27 Esses oficiais forneciam alimentos para o rei Salomão e para todos aqueles que comiam à mesa do rei Salomão, cada um no seu mês. Eles não permitiam que nada faltasse. 28 Também traziam ao lugar certo cevada e a palha para os cavalos dos carros de guerra, e cavalos de sela; cada um trazendo o que fora capaz.

26 Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. 27 Those officers provided food for King Solomon and for all who came to King Solomon's table, every man in his month. They let nothing be lacking. 28 They also brought to the proper place barley and straw for the chariot horses and riding horses, each one bringing in what he was able.

29 Deus deu grande sabedoria e entendimento a Salomão, e amplitude de compreensão como a areia na praia. 30 A sabedoria de Salomão excedeu a sabedoria de todos os povos do leste e toda a sabedoria do Egito. 31 Ele era mais sábio que todos os homens — mais que Etã o ezraíta, Hemã, Calcol e Darda, filhos de Maol — e a sua fama atingiu todas as nações ao redor.

29 God gave Solomon great wisdom and understanding, and wideness of understanding like the sand on the seashore. 30 Solomon's wisdom exceeded the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 He was wiser than all men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, Heman, Kalkol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol—and his fame reached all the surrounding nations.

32 Ele disse três mil provérbios, e seus cânticos foram no número de mil e cinco. 33 Ele descreveu as plantas, desde o cedro que se encontra no Líbano, até o hissopo que brota na parede. Ele também explicou sobre os animais, pássaros, répteis e peixes. 34 As pessoas vieram de todas as nações para ouvir a sabedoria de Salomão. Elas vieram de todos os reis da terra que haviam ouvido da sua sabedoria.

32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs were 1,005 in number. 33 He described the plants, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall. He explained also about animals, birds, creeping things, and fish. 34 People came from all the nations to hear the wisdom of Solomon. They came from all kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.
